Nigerian singer Joeboy exits Mr Eazi’s record label ‘Empawa Music’

Nigerian singer-songwriter Joseph Akinfenwa Akinwale, better known by his stage name Joeboy, has broken up with Mr. Eazi’s record label, Empawa music.

Nonetheless, the 26-year-old singer signed a two-album deal with Warner Music, a global music powerhouse that represents artists including Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, Burna Boy, and Ckay.

Joeboy has taken on a new role as CEO of his Young Legend label, with label manager Deola Jaiyesimi serving as Head of the label. Joeboy will be in charge of developing the next wave of Afrobeats superstars to be recognized globally.

Notably, businessman and singer Mr. Eazi signed Joeboy to Empawa after finding him in 2017. Over two billion listens on major digital streaming platforms have been achieved by Joeboy with the release of two EPs (Love & Light and Body, Soul & Spirit), two albums (Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic and Body & Soul), and other popular songs and collaborations.

Like Olamide, Don Jazzy, and his previous label boss Mr. Eazi, Joeboy is now using his commercial acumen and social influence to highlight up-and-coming artists while transforming his own music career from a continental superstar to a major force in the world.

He announced the launch of his record label with a ritual-themed video on his Instagram page, letting his fans know the good news.

He wrote, “Dawn of a new era. @younglegend4l is alive.”
