A Nigerian entrepreneur has alleged that a hospital administered expired intravenous fluid to her mother.
To support her claim, she provided a photograph of the IV fluid, which displayed an expiration date of September 2024.
She further stated that when she alerted the nursing staff, they assured her that the fluid remained effective for three months beyond the expiration date.
In a subsequent update, she revealed that the hospital has issued a refund to her.
In other news, The Italian Bishops Conference (CIE) has sanctioned the admission of gay men into the priesthood under newly established guidelines.
These guidelines allow gay men to apply to Roman Catholic seminaries, contingent upon their commitment to a celibate lifestyle.
This revision of the guidelines facilitates the entry of gay men into seminaries, effectively reversing the 2016 Vatican directive that advised against the ordination of men with “deep-seated homosexual tendencies.”
Although the Vatican had not explicitly prohibited gay men from becoming priests previously, this development indicates a shift towards a more inclusive stance within the Church.
“When referring to homosexual tendencies in the formation process, it is also appropriate not to reduce the discernment to this aspect alone, but … to understand its meaning within the whole framework of the young person’s personality,” the guidelines say.
In other news, Nigerian music icon Davido seems to have reconciled with Amaju Pinnick, the former President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), following their widely reported conflict regarding a breach of contract.
In a video posted on Davido’s Instagram story, the two were seen enjoying a leisurely day at the beach, accompanied by Kayode Yajuar and another individual whose identity remains undisclosed.
The group engaged in quad biking, suggesting a potential resolution to their previous disagreements that had escalated approximately two years ago.
This reconciliation follows a 2023 incident in which Pinnick publicly criticized Davido for allegedly not fulfilling a contractual obligation, despite having received a substantial payment and access to a private jet for his team.
Pinnick further fueled the controversy by drawing a comparison between Davido and his competitor, Burna Boy, asserting that the latter was significantly more talented.
