“Nigerians almost destroyed my career” -Seun Kuti

Seun Kuti recently disclosed a time in his life when, as a result of his widely publicized conflict with the Nigerian police, his career was on the verge of being destroyed. His career was put in jeopardy by the incident, which also resulted in his arrest.

An unfortunate run-in with the Nigerian police served as the spark for the entire situation. Seun Kuti found himself slapping a police officer across the face after an argument got out of hand and he felt the need to defend himself and his family.

But what he might have thought was an act of self-defense ended up having far-reaching effects that he could never have predicted.

Surprisingly, Netizens and Nigerians defended the behavior of the police officers engaged in the altercation instead of offering their support and sympathies.

Seun Kuti struggled for days and weeks to find a way out the situation after being arrested in his own home.

Seun Kuti detailed the severity of the crises he experienced during this time in a live video. He revealed that he had been dangerously near to having the incident end his career.

Anybody that has access to Tinubu will love him – Seun Kuti

Seun Anikulapo Kuti, a famous Afrobeats singer, has remarked that most people who criticize President Bola Tinubu would end up adoring him if they had access to him.

The controversial artist claimed this on an episode of The Honest Podcast, when he explained that if they become close to the president, the criticism would stop.

Growing up, Seun Kuti stated he couldn’t freely enter his girlfriend’s house because people “hated” his father, late afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

According to the instrumentalist, most people who criticize politicians turn around and praise their offspring for financial reasons.

Seun said; “Being Fela’s son, growing up in Nigeria, I no even fit enter my girlfriend papa’s house. I go dey wonder say, ‘Wettin my papa sef dey do like dis wey nobody like am?’

“But I know my father; he’s a cool guy. So, what’s it about this guy that nobody likes? If I go anywhere, people would be like, ‘Oh! He’s Fela’s son…’ I know that pain. But I looked at all politicians’ children; the same people who criticise Tinubu today will praise his children tomorrow because of money.

“So, I understand that if you had access to Tinubu, you would love him. Your only hatred of him is your lack of access.”
