Nigeria’s Industry, Trade and Investment Minister, Okechukwu Enelamah has been dragged on Twitter after commissioning a gutter he described as a Gully Erosion and Flood Control Project in Akpene Eket, Akwa Ibom State.
The Industry, Trade and Investment Minister, Okechukwu Enelamah who was flanked by APC members as he commissioned the gutter, stated that the project was necessitated by erosions and flooding in the area and its environs.
Sharing photos on Twitter, he wrote;
Too many Nigerian communities suffer devastating gully erosions and flooding. @AsoRock is committed to providing relief. That’s why I was honoured to inspect, commission and handover this Gully Erosion and Flood Control Project for Akpene Eket and its environs in Akwa Ibom
The project is one of 26 @AsoRock‘s ecological intervention projects awarded last year and executed through the Ecological Fund Office (EFO) in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
Pres. @MBuhari‘s administration promised and is committed to ensure that no part of the country suffers neglect, irrespective of geographical location or political considerations. The intervention will curtail the danger to lives and properties posed by flooding and erosion
I told the people of Akpene Eket though, that they have a duty to prevent indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainage channels, to take proud ownership of the project and to embrace a maintenance culture that will ensure its sustainability.

However after he called out by Twitter users, he dropped a rejoinder tweet. He wrote;
Some have asked for clarification on the Akpene Eket project. 3 different sites were reclaimed and filled. Whole streets like the one we walked on during the commissioning were reclaimed & tarred. Drainage rechanneled to prevent flooding. The gutter (pictured) is only an outlet
