Nigeria’s First Credit Rating Firm Owner, Bode Agusto, Dies at 68

The founder of Agusto and Co., the nation’s first native credit rating agency, has died.

Bode Agusto worked as a freelance consultant in the fields of economics, finance, and business strategy before he passed away.

Agusto and Co. established in 1992, is a well-known Pan-African Credit Rating Agency and a top source of market information and analysis in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Managing Director Bode Agusto established the business. He was a Chartered Accountant with more than thirty years of experience working in both the public and private sectors.

Agusto served as Director-General and Adviser (Budget Matters) to former President Olusegun Obasanjo during his second term in office, as well as an Vice President at Citibank Nigeria and a Partner at PwC. Additionally, he served as a non-executive director of the Shell Nigeria Pension Fund, the National Pension Commission (PenCom), and the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
