Afrobeats artist Michael Adebayo Olayinka, known as Ruger, has voiced his concerns regarding the rise of less talented musicians in the Nigerian music industry, attributing this trend to substantial promotional efforts.
He expressed that this phenomenon has been distressing for him, as financial backing for promotion allows even the most unskilled artists to achieve fame.
On his X account, Ruger remarked: “The music scene has been troubling me because no matter how poor an artist’s talent is, if there is sufficient funding for promotion, they can succeed.”
Additionally, he criticized the reliance on autotune by certain performers, particularly during live shows.
“Now, let’s talk about the gaddamn autotunes on the mic when y’all perform. Next time, tell your engineer to shut it down when you’re about to speak coz you be speaking in Tunez wahalaaaaaa. Well, Ruger don’t need that shit. thank you,” he wrote
In other news, Yul Edochie has fired Back at his brother and Critics After Brother’s Remarks on Publicizing Marriage
Controversial Nigerian actor Yul Edochie has hit back at critics advising him to keep his marriage off social media.
This reaction followed remarks by his brother, Linc Edochie, who, during an interview with veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo, discussed Yul’s decision to openly share details of his second marriage.
Linc revealed that while Yul is free to make his own choices, their father, Pete Edochie, had advised him to avoid publicizing his marital affairs.
In response, Yul Edochie strongly defended his choice to share his personal life online, addressing those who criticized him for it.
He pointed out the irony of critics whose own marriages had failed despite being private. Yul asserted that public or private, a marriage’s success is not determined by its visibility, firmly standing by his decision to be open on social media.
Yul wrote …
