Recent updates indicate that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has revised the petrol pump price to N855 per liter.
As of Tuesday morning, various NNPCL retail outlets in Lagos are offering fuel at prices ranging from N865 to N897 per liter. This adjustment has been noted across multiple NNPC stations, particularly in Lagos and Abuja.
At the Alausa location, the pump price at the NNPC station is listed as N865, while other stations in Ikeja and Ikuo are showing prices of N868 and N897, respectively.
This price increase has raised concerns among the Nigerian populace, as it marks a significant rise from the former price of N568 per liter. Online videos have captured NNPC pumps displaying the updated price, intensifying public anxiety regarding the escalating fuel costs.
This increase in price occurs amid considerable financial challenges for NNPC, which reportedly faces a $6 billion debt related to its supply chain. The corporation has attributed the price adjustment to prevailing market conditions, indicating that further changes in fuel prices may be anticipated as economic circumstances continue to develop.
