Stanley Nwabali, the Super Eagles goalkeeper, has gotten people talking after a photo of him appeared on the internet.
The photo shows the goalkeeper, whose performance at AFCON gained him immense notoriety and admiration from Nigerians, seated among some youngsters.
Netizens were drawn to the shot because Nwabali crossed his hands, producing the X shape that many people read as a symbol.
The gesture, which is peculiar to a Nigerian cult organization, has sparked speculation over whether Nwabali is linked with them.
Captioning the image, an X user wrote:
“Nor be Nigeria Goal keeper for this last AFCON be this.”
