No Casualty Recorded In Collapsed Lagos Three-Storey Building –NEMA Confirm

The National Emergency Management Agency on Saturday confirmed that No one was hurt in the three-storey building that collapsed at Ikpoh Street, Surulere, Lagos

The incident was confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos by Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, the territorial coordinator for NEMA.

The building collapsed At About 10:00 p.m last Friday at No. Ikpoh Street 14 in Surulere.

Businessman Mr. Gervase Anyanwu, one of the building’s occupants, told NAN that all of the other occupants were able to flee the structure before it collapsed completely.

Before the structure collapsed, Anyanwu claimed that one of its wings made a loud noise.

The building’s occupants immediately gathered at the mustard point and began to evacuate for safety as soon as we heard the sound.

Anyanwu stated that “no casualties were recorded”.

Anyanwu claimed that the immediate evacuation of the residents was “simply by God’s grace.”

However, NAN learned from another street resident that the structure had displayed significant warning signs prior to its collapse.

At the time of this report, excavation of the building’s rubble had not yet started, but all relevant emergency management government agencies had indicated their presence on the scene.
