In a recent post, well-known Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck blasts senior colleague Eedris Abdulkareem, claiming that he paved the way for them in the Nigerian music industry.
Remember how Eedris Abdulkareem claimed to have paved the way for Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and other artists during an interview with the Honest Bunch podcast?
When he confronted American rapper 50 Cent and his G-Unit entourage in Nigeria in 2004, he rebelled against the mistreatment Nigerian musicians were subjected to from show promoters. This, he claimed, is why Nigerian artists are now respected and popular across the world.
During the latest episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Abdulkareem claimed that his rebellion had an effect on his career. But he said that it was a great sacrifice that made room for artists like Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid to move ahead.
Rapper Odumodublvck responds to this by telling Eedris Abdulkareem to keep quiet on his official X page, claiming that he has never paved for anyone.
Odumodublvck stated that Wizkid and Burna Boy worked hard to get where they are, none of their senior colleagues helped them along the way, saying that each artist has their own struggles and reality.
He stated that Eedris Abdulkareem might have inspired younger musicians, but never paved the way for anyone concluding that it is God who paved the way.
He wrote; “EVERYBODY DEY CLAIM PAVE THE WAY. EVERYBODY TRYNNA CLAIM GODS GLORY NONE OF YOU NIGGAS PAVED THE WAY FOR NO ONE. NOBODY PAVED THE WAY FOR WIZKID OR BURNA. NOBODY THEY HUSTLED. ALL OF US GET OUR INDIVIDUAL STRUGGLES AND REALITY. INSPIRED? YES. PAVED THE WAY? THATS GOD. NO HUMAN BEING IN THE HISTORY OF MUSIC HAS PAVED THE WAY FOR ODUMODUBLVCK. THATS GOD. SO TOMORROW MAKE NO OG CON DEY TALK SAY E PAVE WAY FOR ME,CAUSE BROS. YOU WERE NOT THERE WHEN I WAS IN THE DENGI SO KEEP QUIET SIR.”
Odumoblvck also shared a video from 2019, in which he stated that Burna Boy was right when he said he paved the way for himself.
He stated, “POSTED THIS IN 2019. NOBODY DEY PAVE WAY FOR ANYBODY. NA GOD WORK BE THAT. – INDUSTRY MACHINE.”
