No Nigerian Deserves To Be Poverty Stricken — Senate Spokesman

Yemi Adaramodu, the senate’s representative in the 9th National Assembly, stated that the senate is determined to eradicate poverty in Nigeria and that no Nigerian should have to live in it.

Adaramodu made this statement on Friday while discussing the Senate retreat dubbed “Fiscal Policy” that is scheduled to take place in Akwa-Ibom State.

According to him, it shouldn’t matter how many Nigerians live in poverty; what matters is how to help them escape their circumstances.

“It is not the figure or data from anybody, including the World Bank and Statistics agencies, that matters but the willingness to take Nigerians out of poverty. The figure disparity does not matter.

“I don’t believe that any Nigerian deserves to be poverty-stricken. No Nigerian is expected to go to bed without about two decent meals daily. No Nigerian youth is supposed to have a job, just as no Nigerian parent is expected not to sponsor their children to school.

“We all know that there is poverty in the land, and the Senate is ready to enunciate policies that will ensure that Nigerians are brought out of economic,” he added.

Speaking about the N160 million sport utility vehicle granted for each of the 109 senators during the nation’s economic crisis, Adaramodu said it was equivalent to the false claims made by others that senators had purchased furniture.

He reaffirmed that each senator is entitled to a working tool, which includes automobiles (SUVs), every four years during their term in the assembly.

Additionally, the senator from the Ekiti South Senatorial District emphasized that the funds set aside for this reason are largely intended for supervision duties.

“The vehicle is always boarded after. If you don’t want it, you could leave it,” he added.
