Nasarawa State Police Command on Wednesday said no ransom was paid to free Safiyanu Andaha, the chairman of the Akwanga Local Government Area, who was kidnapped on Tuesday.
In an interview with PUNCH Online, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the public relations officer for the state police, revealed this.
Prior to this, Gistlover revealed that sources told our correspondent that he and another guy, Adamu Umar, were kidnapped on New Year’s Day at Ningo village along the Andaha-Akwanga Road by gunmen.
While responding to a text if truly a ransom was paid, the PPRO said, “No ransom was paid. The victim and the person the abductors contacted confirmed to us that no dime was paid.
“They were released at about 8.40pm (Tuesday) due to sustained pressure mounted on them by our operatives deployed on their trail.”
Earlier report stated that the kidnappers wanted N50 million in exchange for their freedom.
According to PPRO, Umar Nadada, the state commissioner of police, had dispatched troops to pursue the thugs and free the chairman and another individual who had been abducted.
