The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has been given a seven-day deadline to include youths in its development plan or face opposition from the youth organizations in the region by North East Alliance for Good Governance.

The group’s chairman, Ambassador Auwal Gotal, and secretary, Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim, jointly signed a statement entitled “Immediate Action Required: 7-day Ultimatum Issued to the North-East Development Commission and Protest Action,” which contains the ultimatum.

The North-East Alliance for Good Governance issued a stern ultimatum to the North East Development Commission, representing the interests and aspirations of young people in all six states of the region, the group claimed.

The commission’s failure to address the marginalization and exclusion of young people from the North East sub-region’s development agenda has left us with no choice,” the statement reads. ” .

The group announced it would start a shutdown of the commission’s operations in all six states of the North East, saying this was not a decision that was made lightly but was necessary to emphasize the urgency of its demands.

It urged the commission to establish a platform for youth inclusion so they can have a real impact on the region’s development, as was the original plan when the commission was founded. It claimed that their demands are fair and clear. According to the significant budgetary allocations made each year, it insisted on seeing real change and youth empowerment through education.
