Following the face-off with United States’ President, Donald Trump had with North Korea’s Supreme Leader, Kim Jong-Un, North Korea has been added to the list of countries covered by his original travel ban. Unlike the president’s original bans, which had time limits, this one is open-ended.
Other countries affected by the ban include; Venezuela, Chad, Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen and Somalia, as restrictions on citizens from Sudan were lifted.
However, briefing reporters on a conference call, White House Officials acknowledged that the number of North Koreans now traveling to the United States was very low.
Donald Trump tweeted after growing his travel ban list to 8 countries;
“Making America Safe is my number one priority. We will not admit those into our country we cannot safely vet”.
It was also gathered that Iraqi citizens will not be subject to travel prohibitions but will face enhanced scrutiny or vetting, as new restrictions are slated to take effect on Oct. 18 and resulted from a review after Trump’s original travel bans sparked international outrage and legal challenges.
