American rapper Lil Wayne has expressed that not being chosen as the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show has profoundly affected him.
Reports indicate that Nicki Minaj and several fans have voiced their criticism towards Jay-Z, who was responsible for selecting the headliner, for opting for Kendrick Lamar over Wayne.
In a video message that gained significant attention on Friday, Lil Wayne stated that he holds himself accountable for not being mentally equipped to handle the disappointment.
He emphasized that it would have been an immense honor for him to perform at the 2025 Super Bowl in his hometown of New Orleans. Furthermore, Wayne mentioned that he is making efforts to move past this setback.
“That hurt a lot. I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown. I thought there was nothing better than that stage in my city… It broke me and I’m just trying to put me back together,” he said.
