In advance of Saturday’s governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission delivered voting materials to each of Imo State’s 27 local government areas on Thursday.
Voting materials, result sheets, and Bimodal Voter Accreditation System equipment were handed to the 27 LGAs by the electoral authority at the Central Bank of Nigeria branch in Owerri, the state capital.
While the sensitive materials were being distributed, Southeast National Commissioner Kenneth Ukeagu briefed the media and stated that the electoral umpire was prepared for the state’s poll on Saturday.
He revealed that all local government areas in the state would hold elections after receiving assurances from operatives that the highest level of security would be provided.
Ukeagu stated that he doesn’t see any problems because the commission is keeping up with its election preparations.
He continued by saying that INEC employees have received professional training and direction on how to carry out their duties during the election.
As a result, he urged the state’s voters to turn out in large numbers on Saturday to choose the governor they wanted.
He said, “We are ready for the election. We are distributing sensitive materials to all the LGAs in the state because elections will take place in all the LGAs in the state. We have received assurance from the security agents for the provision of adequate security during and after the election.
“On our part, we are ready and on top of our plans. The people of the state have to come out on Saturday and elect a governor of their choice.”
