The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has raised an alarm that citizens of Imo State are in danger, labelling Governor Hope Uzodinma as a terrorist.

In a post captioned “IMO STATE CITIZENS ARE IN DANGER, THE CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER IS NOW A TERRORIST” via its official X handle on Saturday, the labour union said that the attack on its President, Joe Ajaero, was not just an attack on his personality but on the legal rights of the citizens of Imo State.

“The Attack on the NLC President is not just an attack on his personality but an attack on the legal rights of a citizen by a governor who was meant to secure the citizen,” the post read.

Gistlover remembers that members of the Imo State Police Command are said to have kidnapped and beaten Ajaero on Wednesday.

The beating sent the NLC President to the hospital in a critical condition.

However, the police refuted accusations that they had mistreated Ajaero, saying instead that they had placed the leader of the labor union in preventive custody in response to information about impending mob action against him.

Nonetheless, the union declared its intention to start an industrial action in response to the mistreatment of its national leader, calling for the Imo State Commissioner of Police to be removed and demoted right away.
