The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader Bola Tinubu, in an interview he granted journalists when he visited Governor Rochas Okorocha alongside pioneer National Chairman of APC, Bisi Akande, at the Government House Owerri, on Friday, reacted to former President Obasanjo’s open letter to Tinubu.
Recall that in his letter, former President Obasanjo told President Buhari to dump his second term ambition and retire to his hometown in Daura, Katsina State.
Tinubu who disclosed that this is not the appropriate time to speak on the Coalition for Nigeria inaugurated by the former President, however he claimed that Obasanjo was “playing politics with the public letter”.
“They both had the same background. So, I believe that would have been the conversation of retired military heads of State.
They have unfettered access to each other, either through the Council of State or via any other means. He could see the president privately.
He (Obasanjo) was also his (Buhari) senior in the army. I think Obasanjo was playing politics with the public letter. That is all I see.
They also met at the African Union meeting. He has a way of discussing with the President any time he wants,” Tinubu said.
This is coming after Former President Obasanjo asked the National Assembly to ‘raise the alarm or call for correction’ of President Muhammadu Buhari’s actions which he said have violated the principle of federal character Commission, especially in the appointment of key officers in the security agencies.
Chief Obasanjo made the call during the launch of his movement, Coalition for Nigeria Movement (CNM), in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital, on Thursday. The former President also said the national assembly and the Federal Character Commission must both put a stop to the Buhari’s administration which, according to him, has violated “the spirit of our constitution.”
