Former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s son, Olujuwon, in a statement released yesterday countered his mother, Taiwo Martins’s allegation against his wife, Tope Adebutu, daughter of billionaire businessman, Kessington Adebutu, claiming that the abuse she subjected him to drove him into leaving his home 7 months after his wedding.
Recall that Taiwo who never wanted the marriage to hold at first, in her interview with The Sun, said;
I don’t know whether the marriage has broken down or not because the young man lives with his father in Abeokuta while I live in Lagos. So, I think you should direct that question to my son’s father and his wife. I am asking them both where my son is? That was why I went to the police to make reports last year.
I saw my son once before the wedding when he came to tell me that, ‘Mummy I am going ahead whether you support me or not’. He defied my orders and that was why I didn’t attend the wedding. Everyone said they were above the almighty God who gave the message and I am nothing because they are the ones controlling things.
However, Obasanjo’s son who countered his mother’s allegation against his wife, said he took the decision to go into seclusion and is neither missing nor hiding.
‘At my age of over 34 years, it is ridiculous to the extreme that my mother would ask the Police to look for me. I am well, alive and kicking and the Police need not look for me. My siblings and others in my family … know my whereabouts and we keep interacting and communicating. My father, who has supported me and my decisions in every aspect of my life, has been in constant communication with me and he is aware that I am hale and hearty. This is my personal and deliberate decision” he said.
