Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has spoken out in defense of Burna Boy, who came under fire for kicking a fan that ran across the stage during his performance at the 2025 Greater Lagos Countdown Concert.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Odumodublvck justified Burna Boy’s reaction, emphasizing the need for personal safety during such unpredictable moments. He argued that the backlash was unwarranted, considering the potential risks involved.
The rapper wrote:
“If that guy had a knife and, God forbid, he did anything to Odogwu, the same people talking would say, ‘Shebi he gets money, why didn’t security do bla bla bla.’ Let’s at least speak with honest minds sometimes. Not everything is banter. I know it’s New Year, but that doesn’t mean foolishness should continue. Abeg, abeg.”
Odumodublvck’s comment has sparked mixed reactions, with some agreeing with his perspective and others continuing to criticize Burna Boy’s handling of the situation.
This comes after the viral clip from Burna Boy’s Tuesday night performance showed the moment he kicked the overzealous fan who rushed onto the stage. However, even after the fan was booted off, the singer signalled his disinterest in carrying on with the performance and headed toward the exit.
Burna Boy’s action sparked various reactions across social media, with many calling him out for assaulting the fan and others defending him.
Reacting to the buzz the situation caused, the Afrofusion singer explained that he has PTSD and his condition is usually triggered when startled on stage, which is why he walked off after the overzealous fan attempted to grab him.
Burna Boy further urged fans to respect his boundaries while expressing gratitude for their support.
The concert, which was held at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), was part of an annual celebration across five IBILE divisions of Lagos — including locations in Ikorodu, Badagry, Agege, and Epe.
It featured the performance of singers including Olamide, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Adekunle Gold, Seyi Vibez, 9ice, BNXN, and Adewale Ayuba, the fuji maestro.
