  • Rapper Odumodublvck received the Next-Rated Award during the event.
  • His acceptance speech was interrupted when his microphone was muted due to time constraints.
  • At the 17th Headies Awards, held on April 27th in Lagos, rapper Odumodublvck made headlines after an unexpected moment during his acceptance speech for the prestigious Next-Rated Award. As the rapper took the stage alongside his mother and a group of over 11 supporters, tensions arose when his microphone was abruptly muted.

The organisers, citing time limitations, instructed Odumodublvck to leave the stage, but the rapper stood his ground, refusing to comply. After a brief standoff, the event team decided to restore his microphone, allowing him to complete his speech. His defiant stance sparked a flurry of reactions from the audience and has since become a hot topic among fans and industry figures alike.

The incident added an unexpected twist to an otherwise celebratory evening, which saw numerous prominent Nigerian artists taking home major awards.

After his mic was restored, he said …

“Against all odds, I have pushed against so many barriers like this. Couple of years back, there were so many feelings we could not express through our music.

“The world world clap us down; ‘you can’t be this,’ or ‘you can’t speak like,’ ‘you can’t do this,’ ‘you can’t release music in this way.’

“Me standing here today, is a proof that all those things are fallacies. It only would have been possible through my Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ, who have been there for me through thick and thin. Tonight, God has shown that God reigns.”
