On Tuesday 26th December 2016, distinguished guests, dignitaries, friends and family of the 14th Speaker of the National House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, gathered to celebrate with him as he clocked 50.
A series of events which included a Thanksgiving Service at the Living Faith Church, Goshen City, Abuja; a visit to the Abuja Children’s Home and Treasure Orphanage Home; and a Book Launch at the International Conference Center ICC, Abuja culminated the Golden Jubilee celebration of the astute leader and humanitarian.
A major highlight of the celebration was the launch of his biography, ‘A Reed Made Flint’ which in his true humanitarian spirit, was used to raise funds for donation to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). A total of N300million was raised by friends and well-wishers of the Honourable Speaker, thereby achieving the theme of the celebration which was ‘Giving back to the society’.
Several dignitaries graced the occasion including President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented by the SGF Mr. Boss Mustapha, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki and Alhaji Aliko Dangote. The event was also well graced by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress; State Governors of Bauchi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Edo and Borno states; several distinguished Senators and Honourable Members.
