Ogun Assembly Stolen Mace Recovered By Lagos Police.

The Lagos State Police Command has recovered the mace of the Ogun State House of Assembly at Abule-Oshun, along Badagry road.

Vanguard reports, the mace is being taken to the office of the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.

Gistlover reports the suspected hoodlums stormed the office of the Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo overnight and escaped with the mace.

The mace is the official symbol and sign of the authority of the legislature.

However, the incident confirmed by the spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi.

It was gathered that this is the second time hoodlums the Assembly complex has bulged in the last three weeks.

When contacted, Oyeyemi had said the head of the mace has been recovered, while an investigation into the burglary and theft has commenced.

“There is an unfortunate incident today in the Assembly complex. The hoodlums broke into the Assembly through the ceiling, and removed the official mace of the house. That is why the Commissioner of Police had to go there for on the spot assessment,” he said.

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Adejojo had also debunked that the mace was stolen, saying the mace was in a safe place in the Assembly.
