Ogun State Police Discloses Portable’s Fate 24 Hours After He Turns Himself In

  • The Ogun State Police Command in Abeokuta has confirmed that Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, has surrendered and is currently in custody.
    • Portable is set to be interrogated about an alleged attack on Ogun State Town Planning Agency officials during an enforcement operation on his property in Ilogbo.
    • Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for Ogun State police, confirmed the arrest of portable.

The Ogun State Police Command in Abeokuta has announced that the controversial Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has turned himself in and is currently in custody.

This announcement follows his appearance at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) just hours earlier.

Portable is anticipated to be interrogated regarding an alleged assault on officials from the Ogun State Town Planning Agency during an enforcement operation at his property in Ilogbo.

Ogun State police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the arrest, stating:

“The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the public that Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, at exactly 13:23 hours today, February 19, 2025. His presence at the SCID is connected to an ongoing investigation. The command assures the public that due process will be followed in handling this matter, and updates will be provided as necessary.”

Portable was declared wanted following a violent altercation with three town planning officials—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—who were performing their duties in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, Ogun State. After the incident, the artist reportedly went into hiding and denied any involvement in the attack.

In an effort to exonerate himself, Portable sought assistance from both the federal and Ogun State governments. He also claimed to be receiving psychiatric treatment; however, the police dismissed his assertions and maintained that he was still wanted for questioning.

After several weeks of evasion, Portable suggested in an Instagram story that he might surrender to the authorities. He subsequently issued an apology to the Ogun State government, explaining that his fear had led him to flee.
