Famous singer, Tiwa Savage, has shared a heartwarming story about her encounter with colleague cum rapper, Olamide
According to Tiwa Savage, Olamide’s management demanded ₦100 million from her for a verse on her song, but he shockingly declined.
The Stamina crooner stated that he didn’t charge the 35-year-old because of their sibling-like relationship and his awareness of the difficulties faced by female artists in the music industry.
Instead, Olamide showed his generosity and support by offering the verse for free.
The 44 year old Tiwa Savage expressed her gratitude, acknowledging that good people like Olamide exist in the industry. The singer who recently dropped a single ‘Commona’ with Olamide said:
“I was talking to his management, I didn’t want to talk to him directly cus he will want to do it for free. Spoke to his team and they charged N100m. I was willing to pay. When Olamide asked them who the artiste was, they said me and he just said NO. He won’t take it. He said I am his sister and he knows how difficult it is to make it in the industry as a woman. That’s how he denied and guess what? He gave me the verse for Free. Good people exist and Baddo is one”
In the meantime, Tiwa Savage recalled how, in the beginning of her career, her “sexy” style drew harsh criticism.
In a recent interview with Kiss FM, UK, Savage recalled that, when she was younger, she was also made fun of for her “risky” lyrics.
She admitted, nonetheless, that her obsession with Ayra Starr stems from her own experience.

Afrobeats musician Tiwa Savage says that because of her provocative outfit and music style, her early days in the Nigerian music industry were difficult.

She revealed that comparable discrimination against female artists existed in the industry.
Tiwa Savage went into further detail about the unfair treatment she received, including being ignored and not being allowed to perform soundchecks at events.
She shared accounts of being turned away from performances because of her attire, highlighting the obstacles she had to get beyond to become a well-known performer.
She vowed that she would not follow social norms and would instead push limits by dressing even more provocatively.
In her words: “They get overlooked and they can’t do soundchecks, initially when I first moved back, I would turn up for a show and they would say I couldn’t perform because of my outfit.
“I am very stubborn. So I was like my dress is just going to get shorter and my shirt is going to get more revealing”.
