The Ondo State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Akure, the state capital will deliver judgement today in the petition filed by the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Eyitayo Jegede, against the victory of the state Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, in the last governorship election.
The judgement will be delivered on Tuesday by a three-man panel of the tribunal.
The Tribunal on Monday night had informed the concerned parties of the shift in date.
The tribunal had earlier fixed judgement for Wednesday but later changed it to Tuesday for reasons yet to be explained.
The judgement would be delivered by 10am via zoom because of the ongoing strike action by members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).
All courts in the state have been shut down due to the strike by Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria.
Jegede is asking the Tribunal to declare him winner of the election on grounds that Governor Akeredolu and his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, were not validly nominated.
He, however, did not call any witness to testify.
