A man identified simply as Seun has narrowly escaped a horrific death after building in the Old Bank neighborhood of the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State collapsed on Wednesday, but a man only known as Seun.
Although no injuries were reported, Gistlover learned that the victim was struck by falling stairs from the collapsed building and was trapped for hours before being rescued by onlookers.
According to a witness who spoke with PUNCH Metro, the building had been in danger for a while before it finally collapsed at around 5:20 p.m.
Residents were seen mobilizing resources to rescue the victim from the rubble he had become trapped in in a one-minute video shared with our correspondent on Thursday.
The victim appeared to be unconscious as the rescuers asked for water to be poured over him as they dragged him out of what appeared to be a channel.
The victim was receiving treatment, according to Omolola Odutola, a police public relations officer who confirmed the incident to PUNCH Metro on Thursday.
“The victim is responding to treatment after being rushed to one Demark hospital. The entire place has been closed off. We have also contacted the Local Government Authority to seal off the affected area,” Odutola told our correspondent in a WhatsApp chat.
