Onyeka has left this world in glory – Fuji star, Adewale Ayuba mourns singer

Fuji artist Adewale Ayuba has paid tribute to music great Onyeka Onwenu, who died on Tuesday at the age of 72.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Ayuba praised Onwenu’s life and legacy, recognizing her significant contributions to the advancement of the entertainment industry.

Ayuba characterized Onwenu as a beloved figure whose spirit and good deeds will be remembered for all time.

He lauded her efforts to elevate the Nigerian entertainment industry, adding she had a lasting impact.

Ayuba concluded by wishing Onwenu a good rest and stating she departed in glory.

“I celebrate the life of our beloved Onyeka Onwenu. Though she may have been taken from us too soon, her spirit, good works will forever live on in the memories we cherish and the love w“

In another news, President Bola Tinubu has sent his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Ms Onyeka Onwenu.

This is stated in a statement made on Wednesday by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity).

He mentioned that Ms. Onwenu was a singer, songwriter, actress, journalist, activist, and politician.

It stated that President Tinubu mourned the death of “the Queen of Songs, whose edifying and mellifluous rendition, ‘One Love’, in the 1990s evoked a fervour of fellowship and harmony.”

The President recalled the late musical icon’s numerous artistic interventions in promoting the public welfare, highlighting her legendary collaboration with King Sunny Ade on ‘Wait for Me,’ a lyrical family planning campaign in the 1980s.

President Tinubu commemorated the life of the multifaceted and exceptionally gifted artist who pursued every aspect of artistic endeavor and expression, giving joy and laughter to many.

He expressed his condolences to the entertainment industry, the Imo State Government, and the deceased star’s numerous fans for this immeasurable loss.

President Tinubu prayed for the deceased artist’s soul to rest in peace and that she find a place where the music never fades and there is ‘Dancing in the Sun’.

The President noted that Ms. Onwenu’s legacy lives on via her immortal masterpieces.
