In Port Harcourt, a private school decided to send its students to a public school to expose them to various educational environments. This choice has left mixed emotions behind.
Education enthusiast Alex Onyia, who goes by @winexviv on X, revealed the information and explained it as an attempt to inspire the Charles Dale Memorial School pupils.
Alex claims that the pupils were sent to Igwuruta Community Secondary School to attend public school for the full day.
They shared the same playgrounds and classes as the other students in government schools. Students from public schools are supposed to attend Charles Dale Memorial School as part of the exercise’s second phase.
“Charles Dale Memorial School sent their students to Igwuruta Community Secondary School to experience what education looks like in a public school in Port-Harcourt. They had classes together, and also experienced first hand the bad state of public schools.
This is good and it has helped exposed these children to the sad reality in Nigerian public schools,” he wrote.
However, there were differing opinions on the post. Some people thought it was a stupid attempt to denigrate children in government schools.
Reactions as Private school students excursions at public school
AjeboDanny quizzed: “Are they also going to send the students of Igwuruta to Charles dale to experience the good state of private school?”
Ugodaniel_ noted: “It’s good to have a sense of reality you’re not in touch with. It helps balance one’s view of life.”
harrisonJNIOR penned: “How do they want the kids in the public school to feel like now? Inferior? Whose idea was this?”
LoveNemesisX wrote: “So when are they inviting the poor kids to the rich school to learn how one can enjoy luxury without stress and to also know that cutting grass with cutlass every Thursday is not the only way to built character.”
Akwaugonnaya_ opined: “This is not good sir. This act should be condemned. Public schools should not be used as an excursion site for the elites kids. This is so wrong for crying out loud.
“You never considered the mental health of those public school students before posting this because if you did you would have known that this act is going to lower their self esteem and cause them to question their existence or their parents inability to level up with the elites.”
