Oriyomi Hamzat, owner of Agidigbo FM, is currently undergoing medical treatment after being emotionally overwhelmed by the tragic outcome of a charity event in Ibadan, where a stampede claimed the lives of 35 children.
Hamzat, who attended the event held at Islamic High School, Bashorun, was reportedly devastated by the scenes of death and injury. He was rushed to a nearby hospital shortly after the incident.
The charity event, co-hosted by Queen Naomi Silekunola, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, and heavily promoted by Agidigbo FM, ended in disaster when overcrowding led to a deadly stampede.
A source from Agidigbo FM disclosed that Hamzat has been struggling to cope with the emotional and physical strain caused by the tragic event.
“He was truly at the event, but when the stampede began, and children started collapsing, he couldn’t bear the sight. He also fell and had to be rushed to the hospital,” the source revealed to Sahara Reporters.
The Oyo State government and police authorities have vowed to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident, as the tragic event continues to reverberate throughout the community.
