Ossai Ovie Success, a media advisor to the Governor of Delta State, has openly condemned Nollywood actress Ini Edo for attending a birthday celebration in Ghana merely a day after her father’s funeral.
The actress had recently buried her father, Elder Edo Jonathan Ekim, in Akwa Ibom on Friday, with prominent figures from Nollywood, including Rita Dominic, Ruth Kadiri, Nancy Isime, and Desmond Elliot, present at the ceremony.
However, shortly thereafter, videos emerged online depicting Ini Edo enjoying a lavish birthday party in Accra, Ghana, less than 24 hours following the funeral.
In a Facebook post expressing his disapproval, Ossai characterized her behavior as both insensitive and disrespectful. He emphasized that mourning transcends financial considerations, highlighting the importance of showing respect and spending quality time with family during such a difficult time.
He wrote; “I am disappointed in Ini Edo for travelling to Ghana for a birthday party just 5 hours after her father’s burial ceremony.
This is the wrong way of mourning.
To me, this is not a suitable way to mourn.
It’s not about the financial aspect but about showing respect and spending quality time with her loved ones during this difficult period.
Ini Edo buried her dad yesterday and was visibly emotional. Less than 24 hours later, she’s already in Ghana attending a birthday party.
Her trip to Ghana for a birthday party is insensitive, disappointed and disrespectful to her family”.
