Osun 2018: President Buhari orders IG not to invite Adeleke over exam malpractice
President Buhari has stopped the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, from inviting Senator Ademola Adeleke over alleged exam malpractice.
Adeleke is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the governorship election slated for Saturday in Osun State.
The police had earlier invited Adeleke to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for the purpose of arraigning him on charges of examination malpractices, criminal conspiracy, personation, breach of duty, aiding and abetting, instituted against him.
Police alleged that Ademola and his brother Sikiru Adeleke registered and sat for the National Examination Council Examination (NECO) 2017 as internal candidates, impersonating students of the school at the ages of 57 and 42 years respectively.
It also alleged that the governorship aspirant made a statement that he registered for the May/June diet of the National Examination Council examinations, which is made for internal students.
A presidential source, who sought not to be named because he was not permitted to speak on the matter, told some State House correspondents that the President had directed that Adeleke should not be invited until after Saturday’s election.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, had in a statement invited Adeleke and four to report to the Special Investigation Panel, Force Headquarters, Abuja immediately for arraignment in court.
