‘Our sacrifices instrumental to Afrobeats’ rise’ – 2face reveals

Legendary Nigerian singer Innocent Ujah Idibia, aka 2Baba, has stated that despite the dominance of the new wave of Afrobeats artistes, he remains relevant in the music industry.

The ‘African Queen’ singer stated that his sacrifices, together with those of his partners, catapulted Afrobeats to its current level.

He said this in a recent interview with AFRIMMA.

He adviced young artistes to trust the process rather than be overly ambitious.

The music superstar urged them to learn from Burna Boy, pointing out that he began touring by selling out small venues and building a strong fan base before moving on to arenas and stadiums.

2Baba said, “Burna Boy sells out Madison Square Garden and they [other artistes] think they are on the same level. And that’s unrealistic.

“He knows what he passed through before getting to the level he is, and you have to go through that process in full. Burna boy didn’t just wake up and sell out Madison Square Garden, it’s a process that took a long time.

“He started by touring small venues and he built a huge followership from there. And you see the results now. It’s the same process. We are part of the sacrificers; the instrumental process.

“But that doesn’t take anything away from the fact that I am still very much relevant. I’m still here making good music.”

In other news, his wife, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, and fans have showered the comment section with congratulations and praise on his decision to continue his study.

The well-known Nigerian singer and politician Olubankole Wellington, better known by his stage name Banky W, has made a new announcement.

He stated that he is pursuing a Master’s degree in policy at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

He posted a video on Instagram showing his encounter.

Banky W wrote: “Gave up being a CEO to become a student… because sometimes you have to let go of what’s impressive to gain what’s important.

“I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Policy at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

“The journey of faith continues. Please wish me well.”

His wife, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, and admirers have flooded the comments section with congratulatory words, applauding his decision to further his studies.

Adesua was overjoyed, describing him as a “true efiko” and highlighting his academic achievements.

Adesua proudly wrote: “I just want everyone to know that my husband is a true efiko and has gotten A’s so far. I’m so proud.”

She also commented: “I just came back to say I am DEEPLY INSPIRED by you, and I’m not saying this cause I’m your wife. If I weren’t your wife, I’d be jealous of your wife. You are the exact kind of man that impresses me. My honourable.”

Fans have also been encouraged by Banky W’s relocation, which serves as a reminder that it is never too late to pursue one’s dreams.

A fan wrote: “It’s never too late to make your goals happen. Here is a reminder to anyone seeking to pick up on an endeavour. Congratulations.”

Another follower wrote: “I no even hear anything but just watching you gesticulate, I don learn a lot. A true inspiration.”

“May God bless your efforts. May your hard work yield abundant success, leading to personal growth, professional advancement, and a greater impact on society,” a follower prayed.
