"Our voices must be heard" - Actor Yomi Fabiyi calls for peaceful protest to seek justice for late Mohbad

Yomi Fabiyi, a Nigerian actor, has resorted to social media to rally support for the late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, urging the public to attend the next court session for the ongoing coroner’s inquest into his death.

Fabiyi took to Instagram with a screenshot and the hashtag #JusticeForMohbad, calling for a peaceful rally in front of the court.

In his tweet, Fabiyi stressed the need of solidarity and peaceful protest, encouraging his followers to ignore unpleasant remarks and focus on the aim of achieving justice.

He wrote, “Let us be united in one voice to achieve this goal and get closure. IGNORE OR DELETE NEGATIVE VIBES, this is social media. Not every comment from accounts should look like authentic public perception or opinion. Some are distractions.”

Fabiyi advised his supporters to attend the upcoming coroner’s inquest with placards to voice their demands, and if no progress is made, to use the one-year anniversary of Mohbad’s murder as an occasion to continue the push for justice.

He ended his post with a call to action: “LET’S STORM THE COURT PEACEFULLY AND ATTEND THE NEXT CORONER INQUEST AND PROTEST TO REGISTER OUR DEMANDS on this case. IF NOTHING TANGIBLE IS SEEN OR HEARD, WE FOCUS ON THE DAY OF THE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY.”

Meanwhile, Mohbad’s family has asked that organizations and individuals planned to commemorate the first anniversary of his death suspend their preparations.

In a statement issued by Monisola Odumosu, a member of the family’s legal team, the family stated their desire for a period of peaceful grieving rather than public events that could trigger old wounds.

“It has come to the attention of the Aloba family that some organisations have been planning to celebrate the first anniversary of the death of our late son and singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad). The Aloba family wishes to appeal to such interest groups to suspend such ideas.”
