An enraged bandit kingpin who was allegedly sidelined has been connected to the kidnapping of female students from Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State.

According to Daily Trust, the bandit leader kidnapped the students to vent his resentment over being ignored by the various teams that were allegedly sent by the Federal Government to negotiate with bandits in Zamfara.

A source told the newspaper that the bandit kingpin decided to carry out the abduction to demonstrate his power after the various negotiating teams engaged with different groups of bandits but were unable to reach him.

As a result, he guided his supporters to the hostel close to the university and nearby houses, where they kidnapped an undetermined number of locals and students.

GISTLOVER remembers that the female students were taken hostage and led into the bushes during the bandits’ early-morning September 21 attack on the University.

At least fourteen of the students have so far been rescued, but the remaining students have not yet been located, and the bandits have not yet made a public demand for ransom.

Additionally, it is unknown how many students the terrorists abducted in total from the university.
