Nigerian TikTok influencer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has addressed the criticism he faced following his comments on the viral ‘30 Days Rant Challenge.’
His remarks sparked outrage among social media users, leading to a sharp decline in his follower count.
Previously, Peller cautioned Nigerians against using TikTok for the challenge, expressing concerns that it might prompt the government to ban the platform. He suggested alternative ways to voice grievances, such as Instagram or physical protests, to avoid potential restrictions on TikTok in Nigeria.
However, his viewpoint was met with strong opposition, resulting in a mass unfollowing.
In an interview with TVC, Peller disclosed that he lost nearly 500,000 TikTok followers and 400,000 Instagram followers due to his statements.
Responding to the controversy in a new video, he clarified that he was not against the challenge but was only worried about its possible repercussions. He emphasized that he holds no power over government decisions and is simply an ordinary citizen.
“Please, I am just an ordinary citizen like you. I’m not the president or a governor,” he stated.
Despite the criticism, Peller encouraged Nigerians to focus on the pressing issues affecting the country rather than channeling their frustrations toward him.
