Popular TikTok influencer Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, has taken a spiritual approach in response to mounting criticism from social media users.
Peller recently came under fire after voicing concerns about Nigerians participating in the trending 30-day rant challenge. In a viral video, he warned that such activities could lead to a potential ban on TikTok in Nigeria.
Having gained fame through his live videos on the platform, Peller urged online protesters to seek alternative spaces for their grievances. He emphasized the importance of preserving TikTok as a medium for content creators, stating, “If you really want to rant, go to Instagram or even the market; just don’t do it here. If TikTok gets banned, that’s when we’ll have a real problem.”
Following the controversy, Peller disclosed in an interview with TVC that he had lost nearly 500,000 followers on TikTok and 400,000 on Instagram due to his stance.
In the wake of the backlash, the influencer was seen visiting a mosque, where he engaged in prayer. A video he shared online showed him holding prayer beads while addressing his critics. He explained that the intensity of the online attacks had led him to seek spiritual strength and guidance.
