Nollywood filmmakers from the southeast have announced a film project to promote Igbo culture.
The Igbo Cinema and Culture Project’s grand reveal took held in Abakaliki on Saturday.
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi lauded the event as a significant step forward, highlighting its importance in supporting Igbo identity, a feeling shared by many.
Numerous industry luminaries attended the event, including Pete Edochie, Patience Ozokwor, Chinwetalu Agu, Nkem Owoh, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Cha-Cha Eke, Somadina, and Rachael Okonkwo, among others.
Pete Edochie praised the people of Ebonyi for initiating such an impressive project in widely distributed films depicting the Project’s debut.
He highlighted that the community would continue to support the cinema.
Kanayo and Ozokwo echoed Pete Edochie’s sentiments, praising the state’s movie pioneers and encouraging them to continue their efforts to keep the enterprise growing.
Chacha Eke posted some beautiful moments from the event, including a photo of her smiling with Patience Ozokwo and Rachael Okonkwo.

“Walking into the new week like… Last weekend was an eventful one for all of us. We converged on 10th February 2024 in Ebonyi state to offcially unveil “THE IGB0 CINEMA”.
This legacy project as initiated by my brilliant brother @aik Leke and his active team players marks the birth of something extraordinary in Igbo nation. Many thanks to our esteemed Governor & his amiable wife; Rt. Builder Francis & Mary-Maudline Nwifuru & the entire Ebonyians for warmly receiving us. My Mom & Dad-Proff & Barr Mrs John Eke were also present on this day”
