The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has extended his congratulations to Nigerian singer Tems for her success at the 67th Grammy Awards.

GistLover reports that Tems’ song “Love Me Jeje” won the Best African Music Performance award, surpassing other nominees like “Tomorrow” by Yemi Alade, “MMS” by Asake & Wizkid, “Sensational” featuring Davido & Lojay by Chris Brown, and “Higher” by Burna Boy on Sunday.

In a statement posted on his X handle on Monday, Obi expressed his congratulations to Nigerian singer Tems for her success at the 67th Grammy Awards.

He also acknowledged the achievements of other Nigerian artists who received nominations, despite not winning any awards.

GistLover reports that Tems’ song ‘Love Me Jeje’ won the Best African Music Performance award, beating out tracks like “Tomorrow” by Yemi Alade, “MMS” by Asake & Wizkid, “Sensational” featuring Chris Brown, Davido & Lojay, and “Higher” by Burna Boy on Sunday.

In a statement posted on his X account on Monday, Obi praised the other Nigerian artists who were nominated in different categories, even though they did not win.

“I extend my hearty congratulations to our Nigerian Afrobeats star, Tems @temsbaby , who just secured her second Grammy Award with her win in the Best African Music Performance category.

“I also rejoice with Nigeria’s entertainment industry and other Nigerian artists who were nominated for different awards in their respective categories,” the statement partly read.

Obi reiterated that he’s committed to “building a nation that fosters growth among the youths and helps them discover and harness their individual talents for national productivity.”
