Peter Okoye Testifies Against Brother Jude Over N1.38bn Naira Fraud Case

Jude Okoye, former manager of the music duo Psquare, was arraigned before a court in Ikoyi on Monday, April 14, 2025. One of the key witnesses presented by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was none other than his younger brother, singer Peter Okoye.

According to reports by GistLover, the EFCC had earlier arrested Jude Okoye on allegations involving financial misconduct amounting to ₦1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.

The EFCC revealed in a statement that Jude had established a separate company named Northside Music Limited, aside from Northside Entertainment, the entity originally formed to manage Psquare’s business operations.

During his court testimony, Peter Okoye disclosed that Jude was the sole signatory to Psquare’s multiple bank accounts, including those with Zenith Bank, Access Bank, and FCMB. He also mentioned that when internal issues began affecting the group, their legal advisor, Mr. Festus Keyamo, had suggested a fair income-sharing arrangement among the members.

Peter recounted that while he was constructing his residence in Ikoyi, he noticed a sudden halt in the flow of funds, prompting him to seek clarity. His inquiries led to the discovery that Jude had set up another company under his wife’s name, where she held an 80% ownership stake while Jude retained 20%.

Further in his testimony, Peter claimed that upon confronting Jude and his twin brother Paul about the financial discrepancies, he was told he was no longer part of Psquare. He subsequently engaged his lawyer to pursue legal action.

He also alleged that Jude had instructed their banks not to release any account statements to him. When he eventually gained access through legal means, he found the records had been altered and key figures changed.

Peter noted that attempts to sell Psquare’s record catalog had also been marred by evasive responses when he asked for his share of the earnings.

Ultimately, it was Peter’s lawyer who escalated the matter to court after Jude insisted that any financial disclosures should only be granted through judicial channels.

Jude Okoye was later granted bail set at ₦50 million in connection with the ongoing EFCC investigation.
