The federal government had alleged that the double barrel rifles intercepted by the Nigerian Customs Service at the tin can port were imported into the country by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The minister of defence, Mansur Dan Ali, made the allegation in an interview on Channels TV published on Thursday, October 12.
Ali said that the group was responsible for the importation of arms from Turkey into the country.
He said this was one of the reasons why the federal government labeled the group as a terrorist organisation.

The minister said intelligence reports had shown that the group was determined to bring confusion in the country.
He said IPOB should have explored constitutional provisions in making their grievances known instead of trying to cause chaos in Nigeria by producing weapons.
The minister also said the military operation tagged Operation Python Dance currently being carried out in the southeast was not targeted at the pro-Biafra group.
