Tragedy struck in Woji Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State today, as a 7-storey building under construction collapsed leaving many dead and trapped.
Though the details are still sketchy, however eyewitnesses alleged that masons and other workers were on site when the 7-storey building collapsed. Injured workers who found their way out of the rubble, were reportedly rushed to the hospital.
Channels reported that when the building collapsed around 4:30 pm on Friday, up to 60 persons – mainly construction workers – were said to have been working on it. Around 7:30 pm, three hours after the collapse, emergency workers had rescued a total of 21 persons from the rubbles.
