Auwalu Salisu, a 22-year-old commercial keke rider in Kano state, has been offered the unusual reward of four ladies for marriage for his astounding act of honesty.
Salisu was honored and honoured by the Kano Matchmaking Marriage Association, known as Mai Dalilin Aure, for returning a whopping N15 million to a passenger who had forgotten the cash in his tricycle.
The story began when the N15 million was mistakenly left behind in the backseat of Salisu’s tricycle by the owner of the large cash, a traveler from the Republic of Chad who had traveled to Kano to buy items.
Salisu made the admirable decision to return the entire sum to its rightful owner after hearing about it on the radio, despite derision from friends and relatives for his candor.
Alhaji Mukhtar Inuwa Yakasai, chairman of the matching association, spoke to Freedom Radio in Kano and stressed Salisu’s remarkable qualities.
As a thank you, the Kano Matchmaking Marriage Association gave Salisu the option to select four women for marriage from a pool of ten potential prospects.
In an unexpected twist, Yakasai disclosed that two of the women on the list were his own daughters.
“The boy has shown the good character of our Noble Prophet, Muhammad (SAW). He is indeed trustworthy.
“That is why we have decided to honour him with these gifts. There are 10 women for him to select four. Two of them are my daughters,” Yakasai said.
