Controversial singer Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, is now in the hands of the Ogun State Police in Abeokuta.
This comes just hours after he reported to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department. He will be questioned about an attack on some government officials.
Recall Portable was declared wanted for assault on some officials of the state Town Planning Agency who were carrying out enforcement on his property in the Ilogbo area of the state.
The Ogun police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed on Wednesday that Portable is in their custody. Odutola said:
“The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the public that Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, at exactly 13:23 hours today, February 19, 2025.
“His presence at the SCID is connected to an ongoing investigation. The command assures the public that due process will be followed in handling this matter, and updates will be provided as necessary.”
After being declared wanted for his supposed involvement in a violent clash with three town planning officials—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—during an enforcement action in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, Ogun State, Portable went into hiding.
He denied taking part in the attack and sought assistance from the federal and Ogun State governments.
The singer stated that he is receiving psychiatric care in Ogun State. However, the police rejected his claim of being a ‘madman’ and said he is still wanted for an ongoing investigation.
Later, Portable posted on his Instagram story, suggesting he might turn himself in to the police. He also apologized to the Ogun State government, explaining that fear caused him to run away.
