A man has been arrested by the Police over an alleged Internet fraud using Facebook to defraud women in Anambra State by offering them jobs and marriages.
The spokesperson for the police in the state, Haruna Mohammed, said this in Awka, Anambra State on Saturday.
He said the suspect targeted females with Facebook accounts desiring marriages and jobs.
Mohammed said the suspect was arrested by the IGP X-Squad attached to the state command following sustained intelligence.
He added that the suspect who bore three different names, Eugene Chimeze Ohamadike, Henry Eze, and Ifeanyi Obiora, was apprehended after he was traced to his hideout in Enugu State.
He said:
“He is the brain behind series of dastardly acts on social media precisely Facebook where he posed as an employee of an oil company in Port Harcourt or a senior officer of the Federal Road safety Corps.
“Some of the victims fell into his trap under the illusion that they have met an opulent young man who they will spend their lives with.’’
