Three persons have been taken into custody by the Ogun State Police Command on suspicion of stealing a motorcycle and a car from the Mowe and Ifo areas of the state.

This was revealed by a command source in a Thursday exclusive interview with PUNCH Online.

The source said that on Tuesday, a suspect known only as Matthew Segun broke a rider’s skull with a hammer before taking off on his motorcycle.

It was learned that Segun had previously halted the motorcycle and pleaded for it to transport him to Igbese in Ifo from the Old Bank Bus Stop.

Our source also found out that when they arrived in Gbese, the motorcycle rider instructed Segun to get off, but Segun insisted on going a further way.

The source also said that when Segun struck the rider on the top of his head with a hammer before stealing the motorcycle, the motorcyclist lost consciousness and tumbled off the vehicle.

Gistlover has discovered that the rider and the bike’s owner went to the Ifo Police Division to report the incident after he became awake again.

Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the event on Thursday. She stated that other riders of commercial motorcycles in the vicinity helped the police team catch Segun.

She said, “The suspect is a member of a syndicate responsible for snatching motorcycles from commercial motorcyclists in the area. The suspect will soon be transferred after the preliminary investigation is completed.”

Likewise, two people who were thought to have stolen an automobile from the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway have been taken into custody.

According to reports, the suspects were acting strangely along the road and left right away when they noticed the cops were getting close.

The police announced that they had started a manhunt to apprehend the suspects who were running after they had arrested two of them.

Speaking about the event, Odutola claimed that the driver lost consciousness after the suspects entered the Corolla in Lagos and sprayed him with chemicals.

She continued by saying that the suspects instantly fled the area after dragging the driver out of the vehicle.

We have arrested two of the suspects. Our men are on the trail of the other suspects who participated in the robbery. The suspects will be transferred to Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.” Odutola stated this in an exclusive chat with PUNCH Online.
