The police in Anambra State on Tuesday arrested two suspects who allegedly used abducted children for alms begging in Onitsha.
The suspects, the police said, made N25,000 daily from the act.
The suspects were identified as Friday Edet and Ezekiel Ubong, both from Akwa Ibom State.
The suspects, who had since been detained at the Onitsha prisons, claimed to be members of a humanitarian group.
Punch Metro gathered that the group specialised in parading children with different kinds of ailment and using them for alms begging.
They were arrested by the Fegge division of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Fegge Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Rabiu Garba, who confirmed the incident, said the suspects were notorious for using abducted children for alms begging in locations different from their states after inflicting injuries and ailments on them to attract public sympathy.
Garba said six boys with hernia, as well as a three-year-old girl with cancer of the lips, who were abducted by the suspects, had been rescued and reunited with their families.
