Police arrests Man for killing friend with cylinder after smoking colorado in Ondo

• Inspector Taiwo Oniyere reported that Adebayo committed the offense on February 23, 2024, in Akure, Nigeria, by hitting Lekan on the head with a cylinder.

The police in Ondo state have charged a 24-year-old man named Peter Adebayo for killing his friend, Lekan Raji, with a cooking gas cylinder after taking hard drugs known as colorado.

Inspector Taiwo Oniyere, the police prosecutor, told the Akure Magistrate Court that the defendant committed the act on February 23, 2024, on Ireakari Street in Akure. Adebayo was claimed to have struck Lekan on the head with the cylinder after questioning his conduct.

“The deceased came home on that day and was not happy with the way the defendant was misbehaving. So, he challenged him. But the defendant who was under the influence of ‘Colorado’, hit the deceased with the cylinder. So, he fell and died.” the police prosecutor said

According to the allegation, the offence violates Sections 316 and 319 of Ondo State’s Criminal Code Law, Cap 37 Vol. 1, 2006.

The defendant’s plea was not taken, and the prosecutor asked the court to remand him at the Olokuta Correctional Centre in Akure seeking legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The sitting Magistrate, T. O. Olusola-Olujobi, ordered the defendant’s remand to the Olokota Correctional Centre and adjourned the case to March 19, 2024.
