Police bust MASSOB Anambra office, apprehend three members

The leadership of the Biafra Independence Movement and Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign The Biafra Independence Movement and Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra’s leadership claimed that police raided their regional office in Ifitedunu, located along Awkuzu/Otuocha Road in the Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The group claimed that the police carted away 16 plastic chairs, office documents, and pictures of late Biafran warlord Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and Chief Raph Uwazuruike.

Chris Mocha, the Senior Special Assistant to BIM-MASSOB on Media and Publicity, revealed this in a press release on Wednesday and added that police officers had broken into their office that day.

Chief Sylvester Dinyelu, age 87, Chief Beka Udemefuna, age 66, and Amauche Ode, age 53, were all detained by the police, according to Mocha.

He also claimed that those arrested for participating in the pro-Biafra movement were taken to the Criminal Investigations Department CID annex in Awkuzu.

The statement read, “The members of BIM-MASSOB were seated in the office at Ifitedunu when the heavily armed policemen numbering over five arrived at the office in the evening and shot sporadically into the air which led people living around the area to scamper to their safety.

“The arrested members were handcuffed, late Dim Emeka Ojukwu and Chief Ralph Uwazuruike’s enlargement photographs, 16 plastic chairs, and a register belonging to the region were recovered and taken away to the former special anti-robbery squad, Awkuzu, Anambra state.

“The non-violence group demands for their immediate release from the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department, Annex, Awkuzu, or to bring them to court if they committed any offence.

“The arrested members are very peaceful people having belonged to Chief Ralph Uwazuruike’s BIM-MASSOB that have not constituted a security risk to the state.”

The state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, responded simply when approached to confirm the development, saying, “Thank you for the information.”

An experienced police officer who wished to remain anonymous, however, corroborated the development.

According to the source, the command was not willing to allow any of these organizations a chance to continue terrorizing the state without any rhyme or reason.

The senior officer declared that the police were still looking for individuals attempting to wreak political havoc in Anambra.
