Police chase, tear-gas UNILAG students protesting hike in school fees from N19K to N190K

According to recent breaking news reports, Nigerian Police officers chased and gassed some UNILAG students who were protesting the obscene increase in tuition fees from 19,000 to 190,000 naira.

It should be noted that the current administration abolished education subsidies a few months ago, following the introduction of student loans.

Following this decision, tuition at government universities across the country has skyrocketed, infuriating both parents and students.

Students from the University of Lagos were said to have protested the increase in tuition from 19,000 to 190,000 naira.

The students who were seen holding up their placards and shouting out their demands were chased away and forced to disperse by police officers.

Videos online shows the moment some of the students were tear-gased and chased off.
